Dangerous Goods

Dangerous merchandise are those articles or substances that, when being transported in an airplane, may pose an important health, security and property risk due to its explosive, combustible, oxidizing, poisonous, radioactive or corrosive characteristics.

Some dangerous merchandise may only be transported in a cargo plane.
Regulations for handling and transporting dangerous merchandise is specified in the IATA Regulation regarding dangerous merchandise (Dangerous Goods) based on the OACI (acronym in Spanish for the International Civil Aviation Organization) Technical Instructions.

In addition to what is established by IATA, local regulations must also be taken into account, as well as those of the airline involved in the transportation.
